Hawaii Wedding Flower Trends for the Second Half of 2026

Wedding flowers in Hawaiʻi are evolving.

While lush floral designs will always have a place in island weddings, we’re seeing more couples move away from the idea that “more flowers” automatically means a more beautiful wedding. Instead, today’s couples are looking for florals that feel intentional, personal, and connected to the natural beauty of Hawaiʻi.

Here are some of the floral trends we’re loving for Hawaii weddings right now.

1. Florals That Feel Natural, Not Overly Arranged

One of the biggest shifts we’re seeing is toward arrangements with more movement and a less structured silhouette.

Rather than perfectly round bouquets or symmetrical centerpieces, couples are choosing floral designs that feel as though they are naturally growing into the space.

Branches, delicate stems, trailing elements, unexpected textures, and intentional negative space can make an arrangement feel lighter and more artistic.

This style works especially beautifully in Hawaiʻi, where the surrounding mountains, ocean, tropical greenery, and natural light already create such a strong backdrop.

The flowers don’t always need to compete with the scenery—they can become part of it.

2. Tropical Flowers, But in a More Refined Way

A Hawaii wedding doesn’t have to mean a traditional “tropical” arrangement filled with every tropical flower and leaf available.

We’re seeing orchids, anthuriums, calla lilies, ginger, and other tropical elements used much more selectively.

A few sculptural anthuriums or beautifully placed orchids can bring a distinctly Hawaiian feeling to a design without making the overall look overly tropical.

Mixing these flowers with softer garden-style blooms can also create a beautiful contrast between modern island style and romantic wedding florals.

3. Color Is Coming Back

For several years, white and green dominated wedding floral inspiration.

They are still timeless, but more couples are becoming comfortable with color again.

Soft butter yellow, blush, peach, dusty pink, lavender, burgundy, coral, and sunset-inspired tones have all been making their way into Hawaii weddings.

Rather than using every color at once, we especially love creating a thoughtful color story using several shades within the same family.

The result still feels sophisticated, but with much more personality.

4. Statement Flowers Over Flower Quantity

A beautiful floral design doesn’t necessarily need dozens of different varieties.

Sometimes one sculptural flower placed in exactly the right position creates more impact than a very full arrangement.

Orchids, anthuriums, calla lilies, protea, and other flowers with interesting shapes are especially beautiful for this type of design.

This approach allows us to think about each arrangement almost like a piece of art—considering shape, balance, movement, and negative space rather than simply filling every area with flowers.

5. Grounded Ceremony Installations

Traditional floral arches are still beautiful, but grounded ceremony flowers continue to be one of our favorite designs for Hawaii weddings.

Ground arrangements frame the couple without blocking the landscape behind them, which is especially important when the ceremony already has an incredible ocean or mountain view.

They can be designed softly along the ground, built around pedestals, or arranged asymmetrically to create a more organic frame.

Another benefit is that many grounded ceremony pieces can later be repurposed around the sweetheart table or reception space.

6. Designing With Hawaiʻi’s Environment in Mind

Flowers behave differently in Hawaiʻi.

Sun, humidity, wind, transportation, and the amount of time an arrangement will remain outdoors all matter when selecting flowers and designing installations.

Some imported varieties are beautiful but much more delicate in island conditions, while orchids, anthuriums, ginger, and many locally grown tropical flowers naturally perform very well here.

Seasonal and locally available flowers can also provide better freshness and availability.

For this reason, we always encourage couples to think about the overall feeling, color palette, and shape they love rather than becoming attached to one exact flower variety.

Giving your florist a little flexibility often results in a much more beautiful final design.

7. Florals That Belong to the Venue

One of our favorite things about designing weddings in Hawaiʻi is that every venue has its own personality.

A garden wedding surrounded by lush mountains may call for something soft, airy, and organic.

An oceanfront resort may look beautiful with clean, sculptural arrangements and restrained tropical elements.

A private estate may allow for more dramatic installations and layered floral moments.

Instead of recreating an inspiration photo exactly, we believe the best wedding flowers respond to the architecture, landscape, tables, linens, lighting, and overall atmosphere of the wedding.
